Does Your Website Bring Leads? A 15-Point Conversion Checklist for Small Businesses – banner
Quick answer

A website converts when it loads fast on mobile, says clearly what you do and for whom in the first screen, shows prices or a starting price, offers one-tap call and WhatsApp buttons, displays real reviews and photos, keeps forms short, and tracks every lead with GA4 and conversion events.

Many small business websites look fine but bring almost no enquiries. The problem is rarely the colour or the logo. It is usually speed, clarity and missing next steps. Run your site through this checklist on your phone, because that is where most of your visitors are.

Speed and mobile

  1. Loads in under 3 seconds on mobile data. Test with Google PageSpeed Insights and fix heavy images first.
  2. Text is readable without zooming, and buttons are easy to tap with a thumb.
  3. No pop-ups covering the screen on the first visit.

Clarity

  1. The first screen answers three questions: what you do, who it is for, and where you work.
  2. One main call to action such as “Book a free consultation”, repeated down the page.
  3. Services have their own sections or pages with plain descriptions, not jargon.
  4. Prices or starting prices are shown. “Starting from ₹9,999” filters serious buyers and builds trust.

Trust

  1. Real photos of your team, office, work or products — not only stock images.
  2. Genuine reviews with names, or embedded Google reviews.
  3. Full contact details: address, map, phone and business hours.
  4. Privacy policy and terms pages, especially if you collect data or run ads.

Lead capture

  1. Tap-to-call and tap-to-WhatsApp buttons on every page, including a floating WhatsApp button.
  2. Short forms: name, phone and one qualifying question are usually enough.
  3. A thank-you message that tells people what happens next and when.

Tracking

  1. GA4, Search Console and conversion tracking for form submits, calls and WhatsApp clicks. Without them, you cannot tell which marketing works.

Bonus: make it SEO and AI ready

  • Unique title and meta description for each page.
  • FAQ sections that answer real customer questions.
  • Schema markup for your business, services and FAQs.
  • An XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console.

How to prioritise

If you fix only three things this week, make them: page speed, a clear first screen, and visible call and WhatsApp buttons. Those three usually make the biggest difference to enquiries.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my website get traffic but no leads?

Usually because it loads slowly on mobile, does not explain the offer clearly, hides prices, or makes contacting you difficult.

Should I show prices on my website?

Showing at least a starting price usually improves lead quality and builds trust, because visitors can check if you fit their budget.

How much does a business website cost in India?

A professional, SEO-ready business website typically costs ₹15,000–₹50,000, depending on pages, design and features.
